WAVE MODELLING ANALYST
Setting up and running of wave, sediment transport and tidal models. Pre-processing data for use in wave modelling. Post-processing of wave model results.....
The Role
This role has been created within Aquamarine Power due to the necessity to create and provide models of wave conditions on a variety of spatial scales. Wave resource analysis inputs into a number of functions, including; valuing the market available for wave energy converters, specifically Aquamarine Power’s Oyster device; selecting sites for development and providing energy forecasts for sites in development; optimally positioning devices within a site; and informing the design of future devices.
The challenges for the Wave Modelling Analyst will include:
• Setting up and running of wave, sediment transport and tidal models
• Pre-processing data for use in wave modelling
• Post-processing of wave model results
• Report preparation
• Data screening and quality control
• Bathymetric studies to optimize Oyster’s exact location on site
Skills, knowledge and experience required
• Degree qualified in engineering or physical sciences
• Experience of MATLAB is essential
• Experience using wave models such as DHI MIKE21 SW or SWAN is preferred but
not essential as training will be provided

• Knowledge of oceanographic and coastal processes is preferred but not essential
• Strong abilities in mathematics and problem solving
• Keen interest in the renewable energy sector and in particular wave energy
• Excellent communication and report writing skills required
