The big issue the industry has to face is the level of funding and incentivisation to encourage utilities and equipment manufacturers to deliver the world’s first marine energy arrays over the next few years.

Renewable Energy Research Conference (RERC) 2012

During Technoport RERC Research 2012, scientists from all areas of environment-friendly energy research will have an opportunity to give an update and discuss recent technological and scientific achievements in 12 parallel sessions (see below). The parallell sessions will include both oral and poster presentations. There will also be plenary sessions, organized as Technoport Talks.

The parallell sessions will cover the following topics:

Sustainable built environment
Solar energy
Wind energy
Marine energy
Hydropower
Bioenergy and fuels
Hydrogen
Energy systems – smart grids
Innovation in transition to a green economy
Sustainability assessment of energy technologies

The International Conference on the Environmental Interactions of Marine Renewable Energy Technologies

The importance of this subject means that it is relevant to researchers working in many academic areas, and it is an aim of this conference to bring together those working in different disciplines and from different cultures to encourage collaboration and further progress in the subject. Submission of papers is now invited to include, but not limited to, the areas listed below. The conference's Scientific Steering Committee will then offer the authors of what it feels to be the most appropriate abstracts the opportunity to make a presentation to the conference, or to display a research poster at the accompanying exhibition. During the week, specific times will be made available for poster authors to discuss their work with the other delegates.

Potential contributors should be aware that there is also an ambition to publish a special issue of a peer-reviewed journal to compliment the conference, and authors wishing to have their work considered for inclusion in this should state so clearly when submitting their abstract, and must ensure that they subsequently produce material of a suitable standard.
Abstracts should consist of a one-paragraph summary (ca. 100 words), a list of 3-5 key words, the contact details of all the authors, and a correspondence address. This should be submitted by email to the conference organiser for consideration by the Scientific Steering Committee at contact@eimr.org by 30 November 2011. It is intended that the programme will be finalised by the end of January 2012. Informal enquiries about the conference may also be sent to the same address.
The relevant subjects include:

Energy Resources, for example wave, tidal, and meteorological measurements
Physical and Biophysical Modelling
Environmental Interactions, for example observations of devices in relation to currents, sediments, benthic and pelagic species, migratory birds and marine mammals
Studies into disturbance and contamination in ecosystems
Ecological methodologies and study design
Marine Acoustics
Engineering and Technical Challenges - for example concerning moorings, seabed survey, navigation and positioning
The sustainability of the marine renewables industry, and shaping of national and international policy and regulation
Socio-economic investigations: for example, regarding community, stakeholder, heritage, archaeological and cultural considerations

INORE SYMPOSIUM 2012

The Inore annual symposium is a week long residential experience for early stage researchers in offshore renewable energy. The week consists of tutorials, collaborative tasks, keynotes, and presentations from all 60 attendees.

Thanks to INORE's sponsors, we will provide accommodation, food, and activities with no cost to you. This may include some interesting visits to the Renewable sites of Jutland.

We'll provide transport from AALBORG airport to the hostel, and later in the week we'll take you surfing in "Cold Hawaii".

The Symposium is a great occasion to get to know new people and share experience

UKERC Summer School 2012 Nominations now open

The UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) is holding its eighth annual Energy Summer School from 17^th June - 22^nd June 2011 at the University of Warwick in the English Midlands. There will be 100 places available for UK and international students.

The School has been specifically designed to give second year PhD students an understanding of energy systems as a whole and of pathways to low-carbon and resilient energy systems. We welcome applications from those engaged in energy-related research including technical, physical, social, economic, environmental and business aspects of energy and energy systems.

We would like to invite you to nominate students to attend. There is no charge for registered research students to attend the School; UKERC will provide accommodation and all meals and materials for activities. The School is conducted in English, and as it is highly interactive a good standard of comprehension and spoken English is essential.

Coastlab12 is the 4th event of the Coastlab series after the conferences in Porto, Bari and Barcelona and will take place on 17-20 September 2012 in Ghent. Prior to the conference, a PhD Master Class will be organized on Sunday 16 September 2012.

The Coastlab12 conference covers a wide spectrum of topics on physical modelling for coastal and harbour engineering and provides a unique opportunity for the participants to present and discuss about recent research activities, the latest developments and engineering innovations related to experimental modelling techniques, equipment and instrumentation, including the intercomparison of physical and numerical modelling tools.

Researchers and professionals active in coastal and harbour engineering are invited to submit abstracts dealing with the following topics:

International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) 2012

ICOE is the global marine energy event focused on the industrial development of renewable marine energy.
